Even though Capital Electric has been performing low voltage work for years, in 1997 we formally organized Capital Electric DataCom. This department was developed as a response to the increased volume of limited energy work in the late 1990's. It was an opportunity for Capital Electric to further diversify services while hiring skilled and seasoned systems technicians.

Capital Electric DataCom provides relocations/ modifications to existing technology systems, new installations, and maintenance on existing systems. All of this service is provided with state-of-the-art installation practices and test equipment. All installations are fully tested to meet or exceed industry standards.

Capital Electric has been a member of Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) since 1997. BICSI is the industry recognized trade organization that originated published manuals to provide standards-based design and installation guidelines/methods accepted by the telecommunications industry. A registration program was also established by BICSI for the purpose of providing a level of assurance to the telecom industry and to consumers that an individual is proficient in a designated
